Former England footballer Alan Shearer is set to launch a £9million damages claim today and say he was given ‘negligent’ financial advice.
A judge was told the 46-year-old former Southampton, Blackburn and Newcastle striker, Shearer had sued a number of now-defunct financial advice businesses.

Shearer, who is now a Match of the Day pundit, sued financial adviser Kevin Neal and pension specialist Suffolk Life.
Mr Justice Leggatt began overseeing the hearing in London yesterday and is due to hear evidence from Shearer later today.
Shearer says Mr Neal was ‘careless’ and ‘dishonest’ and he says Suffolk Life breached fiduciary and regulatory duties.
But Mr Neal and Suffolk Life, which is based in Ipswich, Suffolk, dispute his allegations.
